sustainability
Waste is one of the primary environmental concerns with rage rooms. Plenty of waste is generated from broken objects in each rage room session. However, some range-room businesses have transitioned to using more sustainable and eco-friendly materials in their sessions to address this problem. Proper waste management is imperative for minimizing the environmental impact of rage rooms.
Where do our Smash-ables Come From?
We partner up with our local charity shops such as City Mission to assist them in clearing unwanted donations that are damaged & unusable and destined for landfill. The unfortunate reality is that charity, recycling businesses & tip shops receive more drop offs than they can typically sell, and often receive items that are beyond repair. The charity shops we work with are grateful for the solution we provide in removing these items for them.
Responsible rage room operators ensure to store and dispose of broken materials correctly.
What is e-Waste Recycling?
Electronic Waste (typically referred to as e-Waste) recycling is the process of extracting valuable materials that can be reused into new electronic items. e-Waste consists of unwanted, obsolete or irreparable devices.
Our Staff Assist with Manual Sorting of e-Waste
Thanks to Earthlink we've learned so much about how e-Waste is recycled. Our staff have training in how to dismantle electronics in a way that allows recyclers to retrieve non-renewable resources from the internal parts! Once dismantled we drop these back to the recyclers for their new lease on life. Being able to re-use elements found in electronics massively reduces the greatest the impact of the highly disposable technology & electronics industry.
What do we do with the Waste We Produce?
Working closely with Earthlink & Trash Palace, we pick up donations they cannot sell or repair.
Who do we Partner With?
Earthlink are a fantastic recycling plant in Lower Hutt who divert items from landfill. They fix, clean & rebuild everything from whiteware, furniture, electronics & more!
Trash Palace's mission is to keep as much as possible out of our landfills by accepting:
(a) good quality household items that are clean, safe, hygienic and readily saleable
(b) any other items we have the facility to recycle.
Trash Palace will ensure it “goes around one more time”, or is recycled, preventing the purchase of a similar product new from somewhere else (and thus saving all the resources involved in creating, shipping and reducing global production of the raw materials recovered).
